Sometimes there will be no tolerance band -- simply find

Yes, but the numbers would be quite small and difficult to read. If such a resistor is mounted with the marked side down, you cannot read its value unless you take it out of the circuit. Also, the markings would easily rub off or become smeared with time. 16/08/2019В В· How to Read Axial Lead Resistors. Resistors are devices used in electronic circuits to provide a known resistance to the flow of electrical current. They are used to scale and limit the signal that is passing through them to help achieve...

J A, here is a pretty good explanation on how manufacturers mark their IC's. Personally I make use of this site and this one as well. Also, it helps to learn about the package of the IC's, which will help as well. I find most of the IC's I am interested in through this, but nothing beats the right schematic. The problem I am having is the markings, other than the voltage don't seem to corrolate with anything. So I'm not sure if it is a varistor or if it just has obscure markings. The markings are : 05 K385 1146 I know the k385 is the voltage from what I can find, but have no idea what the current is or what part number it matches up with. It's currently part of the 12v input on an electric fence energiser.
